Obey

Why do you do what you do? For whom do you offer the things that you do? What is your primary concern when you make decisions? Can you imagine yourself doing something you don’t understand but you do it anyway out of obedience? I, myself, don’t fully understand the concept of obedience. It has been a constant struggle for me. However, the Bible is strewn with stories that teach us how to be obedient. Like Joseph for example. Joseph knew that he will be judged by others when he decided to obey God, when he chose to be with Mary. Yet he followed what God had instructed him to do. Despite the uncertainties and the struggles he and his bride might face, he trusted and obeyed God. A year ago, I was asked why I wanted to be an engineer. My answer at that time may not be wrong but the conversation showed me a new perspective. I was told that while my answer was for the right reasons, still, I should be doing the things that I do for a greater purpose. And that is for God’s glory ...

Answered Prayer

I have been praying earnestly about two things since I was a kid. I just found out a few minutes ago that one of those prayers is already answered. And while I'm at it, I realize that the other one was already answered a long time ago. Although I can't go into details about it, I want to share how blessed I feel right now (more than I do every single day) and how amazed I am with God for the nth time by showing to me how powerful a prayer can be. We can't deny the fact that there are things that seem impossible to us. I, myself, once thought that those prayers of mine were impossible. However, we are constantly being reminded that with God, nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37) I am a dreamer, we can go talking all day about my dreams in life and still we won't be able to finish it. It's quite a long list. Honestly, I'm still trying to reach most of it. But despite the fact that there are only few of them which came true, I always feel secured kno...

Light In The Dark

I have so many regrets in life, things I did that wish I could still undo. But I've learned so many things from those regrets, so I guess it is safe to say that even if I'd be given the chance to shake the sands of time backwards, I still wouldn't have it any other way. Because the best thing that could ever happen to a person's life is to experience something exquisite in a short span of time with the memories attached to it that will surely be treasured for the rest of his/her life. Live life believing that everything happens for a reason. And if sometimes, we don't understand that reason, have faith that God has the power to make our worst nightmares into a wonderful dream as much as He has the power to value our suffering with an everlasting  joy in our hearts. What matters most is the fact that we learn something in every hardship and burden that we encounter. - M

Terrified

In the deafening noise of silence Shock defines every fiber of my being As the words start to sink in Eyes blurred as liquid start to show My whole body stood still and cold Voice cracked when I started to speak A hot fluid fell down my cheeks I impossibly tried pulling it back Then my knees went Jell-O Slowly pulling me down to the floor As if I'll find strength sitting A moment passed before I find myself back The pain and fear was still there "Ground, swallow me up now..." I said I wish I could hide from this pain crept into my heart To bleed for something I can't have is unbearable To bleed for something I have is too much It's all that I have And losing it would kill me My imperfections, pardon me All I want is find my way home Rush into your arms Feel the warmth of your skin Feel the intensity of your love And tell you, te amo,  Mama. - M

Letter To A Stranger

To Whom This May Concern, I may be a complete stranger to but I sincerely wrote this letter with the intention of helping people to hold on to hope and faith and making them happy this Christmas. I am simply a student who also has issues in most aspects of life. But having these issues isn't that hard much compared to those who are fighting for their lives in the hospitals, suffering in prison for the crimes they have not committed, struggling due to the recent state of calamities, and those who are trying so hard to make a living, or even those who are searching for their way home. A mandatory Christmas letter made useful. I may not be aware but I bet that someone out there somewhere also have unresolved issues in life. Whoever you are, I hope that you'd take it well, whatever it may be. I dare say they're just challenges that a person has to experience in order for to learn and gain more courage. Because we will never be able to appreciate how beautiful...

It Keeps Playing

A few days ago, my classmates and I made a visit to the main campus of our school. On our way there, a fallen old acacia tree was cut to make way for the jeepneys because it's blocking the way. It so happened that the tree just fell down recently that end a jeepney driver's life. He was the only casualty on the said incident. Finding out that sad news made me fall into deep thoughts lately. Life may be sometimes unfair in the eyes of the people who choose to close their minds to find out the reasons why things need to happen this way, that way, and whatever. As for the ones who try and struggle to understand God's plans for us, we define life the other way around. But life is unpredictable, it may not be the appropriate word to define a four-letter word it is sure enough to be true. We never know what will happen after reading something, we never know what will happen if we cross on a traffic road, we never even know what will happen a few minutes after working. All that we...

A Student's Prayer

Dear God, I know how much I owe to You my life. How You've shown that my life is vital in the human race, I grasped what the world is all about, that evil lurks and good prevails. That in this jungle of commotion, survival of the fittest is our strong weapon. I thank You for giving me the strength to face life; for guiding me through the right path; and for never ever leaving me in my ups and downs, in my dreams and fantasies, and even when I go wrong. Thank You for the chance You gave; despite the fact that sometimes, I don't have the courage to follow You. Forgive me for all the things I made wrong, the sins I have committed and for disobeying Your commandments. Help me in doing and accomplishing my tasks. Endow me with knowledge and guide me. That what I do may be a blessing to others. Help me to accept whatever achievements and failures I may encounter as I walk through life. A lot of struggles and pain may come in my life unexpectedly, every rough roads ...
